At the end of a classic love story, the happy couple will kiss, and it would be somewhat irreverent to ask how their life went on after that first kiss. Sophia Martinek though is telling it anyway, with her stoic yet delicate drawings, until the happy ending.

Sophia Martinek, born 1981, studied visual communication at the Universität der Künste Berlin, as well as in NYC and Liverpool. Since 2007, she's a freelance illustrator, mostly for newspapers and magazines, such as the New York Times, Guardian, NZZ or taz. Her comics appeared in SPRING No7 and Bitterkomix 15. In 2010, she won the ADC Young Guns Award, and in 2009 the Hans-Meid-Förderpreis by 3x3 Magazine and American Illustration.
